The Manta Resort offers close encounters with nature and a staff that’s like family. It’s a place where travelers can finally switch off the noisy, polluted electronic world and enter a completely different one – not as a tourist, but as a guest with simple needs: sunshine, fresh air, natural food, a comfortable bed and friendly company.
Home to the internationally acclaimed Underwater Room, floating upon the sparkling blue Indian Ocean, The Manta Resort protects a vast length of fragile coral reef while offering a multitude of activities on land and sea, including world-class diving for all abilities. It is a treasured hideaway where visitors can feel the simplicity of traditional Swahili island culture along with timeless peace and quiet.
This remote island off the east coast of Africa might be as far away from civilization as a traveler might ever find themselves – which means having a great guide is paramount to enjoy all of its pleasures! Manta’s talented guiding team delights in sharing and showing the natural wonders of Pemba – both above and below the water – to guests.
Here we meet Mohammed, one of Manta’s exceptional dive guides.
Mohammed Bokani is one of the Manta Resort’s dive instructors. He was born in a village on Pemba Island called Wete, which is close to Manta and did all of his training to become a dive instructor with the experts at Manta. Mohammed is married and loves his family very much, and he also loves football. He also says that he especially likes to take guests who have never been diving before for their very first dive. He feels like he is introducing them to a whole new world and says that they are always so happy afterwards.
