Imvelo Safari Lodges in Zimbabwe has announced the addition of Zambezi Sands Lodge and Jozibanini Camp to their existing portfolio of Gorges Lodge (Victoria Falls), Bomani Tented Lodge (Hwange) and Camelthorn Lodge (Hwange). Both are scheduled to open in July/August 2014.
Zambezi Sands Lodge is located in the Zambezi National Park and sited on the Zambezi River, about 45 minutes upstream from Victoria Falls by vehicle or boat. The many channels and islands in this part of the river are perfect for canoe and walking explorations. This is a great alternative to the cost and time expense of visiting Mana Pools. Game drives and walking safaris are also available in the Zambezi National Park. Accommodation is in eight spacious tents on raised wooden decks with ensuite bath, indoor/outdoor showers, all facing the river with private plunge pools and outdoor lounge. Zambezi Sands is priced at $460pp rack but is offering a stay 3 pay 2 valid until 31 December, 14. Combine this with the same stay 3 pay 2 at Camelthorn Lodge in Hwange and you have a tremendous 6 night value for money Hwange/Victoria Falls safari. More information on Zambezi Sands Lodge here.
Jozibanini Camp is situated in the remote southern section of Hwange, Jozi was for many years the home of a Ranger Station, protecting the extreme south of the park. This post was abandoned 12 years ago and Imvelo Safaris is excited to breathe new life into Jozi! This exclusive tented ‘fly camp’ is set under acacia trees and overlooks the Jozibanini pan and features two 18m x 18m tents with en suite flush toilets and hot and cold running water built on a raised deck behind an unobtrusive elephant proof barrier. It will include a lounge and dining area and camp staff will comprise a guide, tracker (armed), chef, waiter and tent attendant. Activities are game drives, walking safaris and enjoying some great photographic opportunities from the nearby blind. It is an ideal two night adventure for Bomani and Camelthorn guests into a very wild and off the beaten path section of the park. A large pack of 18-22 wild dog is know to den and regularly frequent this area.
