In all the excitement about the return to and resurgence of travel, Tropic has only just now remembered to give you a glimpse of what’s been going on behind the scenes. During the pandemic, Tropic never stopped, and they’ve heard from many of you that you noticed, which they deeply appreciate! When travel opened up again and your clients began visiting Tropic’s destinations, they seized the opportunity to invest in their staff who weathered the difficulties of COVID-19 as a team.

Restarting travel has been incredibly important to Tropic’s communities that rely on tourism for their livelihoods as well as for Tropic’s staff. Your travelers have been fueling the travel engine and Tropic have also been making sure that their valued team members get out into the field to see and experience the latest, as well as to fan the flame that fuels their passion in their every day work.

Tropic have been out and about with a total of 30 days of travel in recent months! Lizbeth stretched her culinary muscles while cooking with the Kawsaymi in Otavalo, Cristina and Stefany did a bit of diving with Tropic’s partners at Kontiki Expeditions, Ali discovered both new and old joys in Cuenca and Patricia experienced the magic of the cloud forest at Mashpi Lodge. Allison explored the cloud forest from a different angle while based at El Monte Lodge, Magaly kayaked on San Pablo Lake in Otavalo, and Maru hosted a group fam throughout Peru.

Tropic have also taken advantage of the chance to get together as a team closer to home for meals, activities and fun after so much time apart. Their entire operations team and the majority of their sales team have been visiting Old Town Quito to try cooking classes, cleansing ceremonies, chocolate tastings and checking all of the boutique hotels as part of being great hosts for all of Tropic’s visiting partners.

After such a long time, reconnecting with agents is always exciting. Having worked for more than four years with a travel agent, I finally had the oppotunity to meet her and live new experiences in Ecuador. I was so glad to know that we are all on the same page, all working for the reactivation of the industry and organizing unforgettable trips for our passengers.

Some of the Tropic team’s most treasured time in the field has been with partners that have been coming in from all over the world to visit and revisit Ecuador and Peru to learn about the latest products, upgrades and updates in person. When are you going to visit?

“I had a great time with Chloe and Vladana from Kensington tours at Mashpi lodge. We enjoyed the place, the activities and the food! I consider it very important to meet in person the people we work from a distance and we only know each other by email. The FAM trip allows us to improve our relationships with our colleagues who are in other countries and strengthens the ties of work and friendship.”
– Patricia Calero – Destination Specialist

Tropic is so excited about motivating their fantastic team and continuing to reinforce the quality of their service by ensuring their first-hand knowledge of their destinations leads the industry.
