Ten years of training – congratulations to Vusa Ncube!

Well-deserved congratulations to Imvelo Safari Lodges guide, Vusa Ncube, who is now a fully licensed Professional Guide. The final phase of this licensing process under the auspices of the National Parks and Wildlife Management Authority is extensive practicals and testing of candidates in the field and the bar is set extremely high, with examiners drawn from Parks and the private sector known for their years of experience and extensive knowledge.

“This opens up a new chapter in my career,” says Vusa. “I will still be learning to become one of the best Pro Guides in Zimbabwe. Of course, I achieved this under the Imvelo Safari Lodges banner, and my plan now is to help our other guides wanting to achieve the same goal.”

Vusa grew up in Ngamo village near Imvelo‘s Bomani and Camelthorn Lodges adjacent to the Park, where dangerous game often threatened the livelihoods and lives of the villagers. He completed his schooling locally at Regina Mundi Secondary in Gwayi and joined Imvelo as a trainee guide in 2012, writing and passing the intermediate guide exams a year later. Thus began ten years of hard work and dedication in preparation for the full license. Zimbabwe‘s Professional Guides are regarded as among the best in Africa due to the stringent qualification procedure. Today Vusa is well-known and popular with guests, often taking groups of Africa specialists and private guided tours around our circuit of lodges. “I will continue to be a brand ambassador for Imvelo” he says. “To all our friends and supporters out there, it is time to come and explore the pristine Kalahari sands of Hwange National Park with Vusa and our team!”
