I was born in Quito, my mother is Ecuadorian and my father is Brazilian. I grew up in Guayaquil and then moved to Brazil in my teens. I returned to Quito to attend Catholic University where I studied business and marketing. Then I moved to Barcelona where I studied and earned my Masters in tourism management and destination planning.
Years in tourism/Years with Tropic: 16 years/12 years
After returning to Quito in the early 2000’s, I started working as tourism consultant and this is how I met Andy Drum, the founder of Tropic. I joined the company as GM in 2004 and then became sole owner in 2011. I’m also the founder of Waponi, the first ecotourism incubator and sustainable tourism consulting firm in Ecuador.
Favorite places in Ecuador:
My heart will always be in the Amazon thanks to my years working with the Huaorani people to build and develop the award-winning Huaorani Ecolodge. In recent years, I’ve also fallen in love with the Cotopaxi region thanks to Tropic’s Chilcabamba Lodge.
Andrea Fierro, Sales Manager
I was born in Quito, Ecuador. Since I was a child, I have loved nature, meeting different people, travelling. That is why I didn’t hesitate when choosing my career and I studied tourism administration at Catholic University in Quito. I fell in love completely with my country and all its wonders.
Years in tourism/Years with Tropic: 10 years/7 years
In 2006 I started working in the tourism industry. Since the beginning I was attracted by the commercial area because I felt it was the best chance to inspire many people to visit Ecuador, and fall in love with it. I’ve been working with Tropic for seven years, reaching the position of Sales Manager and it has been a great opportunity. I have learned so much during this time; this company has taught me to do things different! Here I really live every day a different way to create unique sustainable experiences in my country.
Favorite places in Ecuador:
I really recommend to visit Ecuador, but giving it the chance not only to show you the wonderful Galapagos Islands, but also our magnificent landscapes in the Highlands as the Quilotoa crater; or our friendly indigenous communities in the Yasuni National Park in the Amazon, surrounded by the densest planet’s biodiversity. You can go from the incredible beaches in the Pacific Coast to the sacred mountains in the Andes, and then the magnificent Amazon region in such a short time. I’m sure nobody will regret about giving a chance to visit all the hidden secrets of our small but rich country.
