Tropic Ecuador provided this update to their #LightUpEcuador campaign in the aftermath of the earthquake:

Dear Friends,

THANK YOU!! We are so grateful for the immediate response to our Solar Kit Initiative! Thanks to your generosity, we were able to purchase all 40 solar kits in less than 24 hours and they are already on their way to help those in need on the coast!

Christian Marin, Renova Energia CEO training the
volunteers on the uses of the solar kits.

We have partnered with three local relief organizations who will be distributing these kits in small rural communities between Pedernales and Jama on the northern Pacific Coast. These organizations already work in the area and know the people and these communities very well. While the need is massive throughout the coast, the smaller villages are often overlooked due to the overwhelming situation in the larger cities like Manta and Guayaquil.

We have sourced an additional 100 of the solar kits in Bolivia and are bringing them to Ecuador. We will continue accepting donations for a few more weeks to fund the remaining kits.

Solar kits ready to go to the Pacific Coast to the communities of
Tabuga, Camarones and 10 de Agosto, thanks to Finca Mono Verde,
Fundación Ceiba and Fundación Arena!
We are moved and proud of the immense support we are receiving from the different corners of Ecuador, private companies, individuals, families and the international community as we work to help those most in need on the Pacific Coast.

Please stay tuned for an announcement soon of a country-wide tourism initiative called EcuadorNOW which we intend to give a complete picture of what is happening in Ecuador, beyond the attention getting focus of the media on the devastation and tragedy. The reality is that we need tourism more than ever right now and we are counting on all of you to spread that message!
Again, our hearts are full of thanks for your generosity and support during this challenging time in Ecuador. And if I can ask for more, please keep spreading the word about our Solar Kit Initiative so we can help more people!
Saludos,
Jascivan Carvalho
President, Tropic Ecuador
Thank you to all supporters of our campaign!
