IT’S OFFICIAL – ORLANDO IS ONE OF THE BEST GUIDES IN THE WORLD.

Orlando Haraseb has just won Silver at Wanderlust Travel World Guide Awards in an event held at the Royal Geographic Society last night, the 13 October 2015, in London, UK.

Out of thousands of nominees voted in by guests worldwide, which were in the end short listed to just 8, and then whittled down to three finalists, we are so proud to announce that Orlando Haraseb is officially recognized as one of the best guides in the world.

The judges included Bill Bryson (legendary travel writer), Mark Carwardine (author, photographer & TV wildlife expert), Peter Antoniou (Swarovski Optik, valued supplier of quality binoculars to all of Ultimate Safaris guides), Paul Goodyer (Co-founder, Nomad Travel Stores), Derek Moore (legendary travel industry supremo) and Lyn Hughes (Editor-in-Chief, Wanderlust) and competition was very close and tight.

We are tremendously proud (and not at all surprised) that this former captain of the national football team, avid birder, and all round nice guy has been recognized by industry professionals and guests as one of the best guides in the worlds.  An honorable accolade to the caliber of Namibian guides, their passion, knowledge and experience and Orlando continues to be an inspirational mentor, role model and exceptional Namibian citizen.

We cannot wait to welcome our national hero back on Friday morning, and until then he’s enjoying the sights of London and the British Countryside.  We spoke to Orlando this morning, who is a little tired but eternally grateful and ever the modest man that he is, couldn’t stop thanking everybody who supported him and how much he appreciates everything that was done for him on his journey.

Our team at Ultimate Safaris is very honoured to be associated with Orlando and planning a huge “welcome home” reception at the Hosea Kutako International Airport when he returns on Friday morning in Windhoek.

We’ll share more info as we get it, and thank you very much for all the wonderful well wishes that came pouring in already.
