We’re green season aficionados – both for its beauty as well as for sharing its magic with few fellow tourists. That’s why we are excited to remind you of Costa Rica’s Caribbean coast green season that runs from around mid-August to mid-November. A great time to get away, the coast is lush with gorgeous foliage – everything transforms to beautiful, verdant green and there are no crowds – it’s a nature escape with just you and nature! Prices are lower and there are lots of special offers for your travelers to select from based on their interests. The Caribbean Zone (Arenal, Sarapiqui) and coast stay the driest during these months and trade winds are almost absent; landscape and volcanoes views are fantastic! What else is great about this season?
Birdwatching: This is the peak fall migration for birds – they can refuel on the abundant fruits and insects in the tree-top canopy. Migrating species head to Central and South America to spend their winters on from August to December, and then January through early May the birds head back to North America.
Turtle watching: Five of the seven species of sea turtles in the world come to nest in Costa Rica on both the Pacific and Caribbean coasts. Hawksbill Sea Turtles (Carey in Spanish), are mostly seen May through November in Tortuguero. The Atlantic Green Sea Turtles (Verde in Spanish) can be seen June through November and nest June through October in Tortuguero, on the Northern Caribbean.
One tempting special offer for this upcoming season is a stay 3/pay 2 promotion at Tortuga Lodge, located in Tortuguero National Park. It’s a cool, laid-back hotel facing the Tortuguero River that offers great service and food with a quiet and tranquil atmosphere. (Can we go now??) Guests can view the wildlife of Tortuguero National Park and explore its backwater creeks and lagoons by boat. The airy rooms have rustic-chic decor and feature balconies or terraces with great river views.
