Lake Mburo National Park is an underrated gem of a park, dominated by the impressive Lake Mburo, from which it receives its name, with forest-fringed shores hemmed in by rolling green hills. Burchell’s zebra, impala, eland and topi are all found here. Guided walking safaris, boat launches on the lake and horseback riding are available.

In Queen Elizabeth National Park, track lions with a researcher and witness the impressive pods of hippo and floats of crocodiles on the Kazinga Channel. Hike the Kyambura Gorge, learn about the coffee process from seed to cup and plant a tree in the community-run buffer zone. Enjoy a local lunch and visit a dairy – overlooking a crater lake – that helps support local conservation and community tourism efforts.

Home to 1,650 of the most threatened subspecies of giraffe – the Nubian (or Rothschild), Murchison Falls is a highlight of the Uganda safari circuit and we’ll end on a high note at the luxurious Nile Safari Lodge on the banks of the Nile.

Day 01. Arrive Entebbe, CAS M&G at transfer to o/n Protea or Hotel No. 5 B&B

Day 02. Depart by road for Lake Mburo National Park (packed lunch) for approx. 5 hr drive. Game drive en route to Mihingo Lodge. BLD

Day 03. Private game drive and boat launch on Lake Mburo, o/n Mihingo Lodge. BLD

Day 04. Early morning guided walk. Depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park (approx. 4 hrs), lunch at the lodge and afternoon coffee co-op visit and buffer zone walk, o/n Kyambura Gorge Lodge, std banda. BLD

Day 05. Lion tracking with Uganda Carnivore Project afternoon private Kazinga Channel Boat launch, o/n Kyambura Gorge Lodge, std banda. BLD *sunbird boat

Day 06. Kyambura Gorge hike, community visit and afternoon game drive or free afternoon. o/n Kyambura Gorge Lodge, std banda. BLD

Day 07. Drive to Fort Portal area (approx. 3.5 hrs). Tinka’s Local lunch, afternoon Bigodi Wetlands walk or community visit or crater lake hike or Kyaninga dairy tour. o/n Kyaninga Lodge. BLD

Day 08. Early morning departure (with packed lunch) for Murchison Falls National Park – approx. 6 hrs. Late afternoon at leisure on arrival. o/n Nile Safari Lodge (or Baker’s Lodge). BLD

Day 09. Morning game drive and afternoon private boat launch on the Nile to the falls. o/n Nile Safari Lodge (or Baker’s Lodge). BLD *kingfisher boat 2-4 pax, alligator 5 pax
