Camelthorn completes 4 more luxury forest villas!

Imvelo Safari’s flagship lodge Camelthorn is situated in one of Hwange’s last remaining well-protected and un-spoilt acacia woodlands, on the edge of the South Eastern corner of Hwange National Park. The main lodge is unique in its style and design and has as its centre piece a huge ancient Camelthorn tree that spans a 35-metre outdoor dining area! The last four of the 8 luxuriously furnished forest villas has just been completed and we wanted to share the stunning finished product with you.

Each villa has a private en-suite bathroom with a bath and feature window overlooking the woodland, large shower, closed off toilet, fireplace, a private ground level deck and an upstairs outdoor maisonette with hammock and day bed. On the edge of the Ngamo Plain, and strategically placed to explore the remote and unspoilt south eastern portion of the park, Camelthorn offers a spectacular wilderness experience! See more photos on the Imvelo Safari’s Facebook page here.

Memorable activities are also on offer such as breathtaking game viewing from our unique underground ‘Look Up’  blind, and a full day trip into the park for our one of a kind ‘pump runs’. Imvelo’s trademark pump runs combine game viewing in remote areas of the park with practical hands-on conservation. Guests can assist their guide with day-to-day maintenance at the borehole pumps which are the heartbeat of Hwange National Park and its wildlife.

We are also offering an outstanding special to stay 3 nights and only pay for 2 at this true eco- lodge!  Combine this with the Stay 3/Pay 2 offer for Zambezi Sand River Camp for an incredible value luxury Zimbabwe safari!

An exclusive camp – Jozibanini opening soon!

A very exciting development is on the horizon! In the 1970’s a rangers station was established in Jozibanini, one of the southern most areas of Hwange National Park that was abandoned 12 years ago. Imvelo Safari Lodges has now taken on the lease of this wild area with an aim to re-establish a permanent presence in this beautiful setting.

‘ Jozi’ will be a  small, exclusive camp in a truly wild place that will provide guests with a unique and very exciting experience. Initially a stylish 4 bedded tented camp with en suite flush toilets and hot and cold running water showers will be built on a raised deck behind an unobtrusive elephant proof barrier.

A second ‘Look up Blind’ is under construction to be installed at the waterhole and ideally bookings here should be aligned over the 10 day period straddling the full moon dates, as game viewing by moonlight from the underground blind will be a once in a lifetime experience. We are exploring several exciting new activities including mountain biking down the ancient elephant paths that run for miles and miles in this part of Hwange, and the restoration of the old Rangers house as a museum recording some of Hwange’s fascinating past
.
For travelers looking for an adventure off the beaten track – ‘Jozi’ will be an exciting 2 day add on option to any of Imvelo Safari Lodges packages from August 2014
