Olwen Evans is an internationally renowned photographer and Adobe Certified Photoshop Expert based in New Zealand, and offers courses in Photoshop and Light room training all over the world. She recently visited Imvelo’s Lodges, as she had chosen Imvelo’s two underground hides in Hwange among the best hides in Africa to capture those once-in-a-lifetime wildlife photographic moments!
Olwen’s main focus during her time in Hwange was to capture imagery and footage from the different game viewing hides and she was not disappointed! She spent several days at Jozibanini’s look-up blind in the remote southwest region of Hwange, where she captured spectacular footage of the large elephant herds that frequent this isolated and untouched region. Under full moons, guests can even spend the evening in the hide watching the wildlife come down to drink with a backdrop of stars in a crystal sky, and if you’re really enjoying yourself why not overnight in the blind? What an incredible experience – not available anywhere else in the National Park!
Jozibanini (“Jozi”) is a small, intimate and rustic tented camp 6 hours’ drive through the park from Bomani, Camelthorn or Nehimba, or a 1.5 hour air charter from Victoria Falls Airport. Jozi is really all about the luxury of exclusivity and is the ideal spot for the adventurous safari goer who would like a unique experience off-the-beaten-track. Guests can go on game drives, game walks, mountain biking, and of course spend time in our magnificent game viewing hide in front of the camp waterhole.
Olwen also spent a few days in our hide in the southern part of Hwange near Bomani and Camelthorn where more outstanding photography was captured and many happy hours spent closely watching the wonderful game that frequent the waterhole and experiencing very special close up moments with nature.
Both of Imvelo’s hides are extremely spacious and boast flush loos, which make them unique from any other hide you will find in Hwange. All guests visiting these Imvelo camps can enjoy this wonderful activity. This toe-level experience with wildlife is certainly a thrill not to be missed!
Thank you Olwen for sharing these images and videos with us!
