What’s happening this week in the Kusini Collection:

New Frontiers: Important news from New Frontiers on changes to Botswana’s immigration requirements for children. Please visit the Kusini Blog for full details.

New Frontiers has partnered with SA Airlink to create the new ‘Skypass’ program. Exclusive to New Frontiers clients, the Skypass flying circuits offer guaranteed fares and great savings throughout Southern Africa. The circuits can take your travelers beyond Cape Town – Kruger – Vic Falls, easily adding destinations by air which are time consuming by vehicle. Also check out the plug-ins itineraries for lesser known stops like George/Garden Route and Durban/KZN, or you can work with them directly to customize a stay. Watch a replay of the SkyPass webinar here and download full details on the circuits here.

Guests at Carlota’s rooftop bar can see some of Quito’s
sights without leaving their seats!

Tropic Ecuador: A beautiful landmark building in Quito’s historic center has been transformed into its newest boutique hotel. Carlota’s rooms are individually styled and range from loft suites with a separate living area and full kitchenette that accommodate up to 4, to beautifully appointed standard rooms for 2. The eco-friendly property boasts a rooftop bar with stunning views, an urban garden that supplies its restaurant and a wine cellar (with tastings!) for oenophiles. Tropic Ecuador is offering 2016 rates for 2017 bookings made by December 31st!

Classic Africa Safaris: Elephant and leopard numbers are increasing in Murchison Falls NP and Classic Africa Safaris reports regular sightings. The recent Great Elephant Census noted that Uganda was one of the few bright spots for elephants on the continent. Population numbers in Uganda have increased 600% to more than 5,000 individuals from fewer than 800 that survived the height of the poaching crisis in the 1970’s/80’s. With increasingly great game viewing on both sides of the river, a visit is a great addition to any Uganda itinerary, and is a must for twitchers, with a 99% success rate of seeing shoebill.

Todos Santos Eco Adventures: Sonya and her family spent a long weekend with Todos Santos Eco Adventures swimming with whale sharks, exploring the charming town of Todos Santos, horseback riding on the beach and more! Surfing and cooking lessons, noshing on the freshest roadside fish tacos, and kayaking and paddleboarding from Camp Cecil rounded things out. Check out Facebook or Instagram for photos of their adventures! For your travelers looking for an action packed quick getaway, there’s no better option for a total escape just a few hours from North America.

Albatros Travel: Albatros Travel has announced Caroline Nyawira’s departure from their Kenya office – she will be missed! We’re excited to welcome back Mary Muchiri to the Albatros family. She spent last week with Caroline to ensure a seamless transition for all Albatros travelers. Also, don’t forget about Albatros’ Client Liaison Officer (CLO) service. Adam and Otieno welcome guests on arrival at the airport in TZ and KE respectively. CLO’s present trip documents and then periodically touch base with the guide or guests throughout their safari and share feedback with the booking agent – talk about peace of mind for travelers and agents alike!

Nehimba Seeps is an ancient water source once used by
San Bushmen

Imvelo Safari Lodges: In a park known for its elephant experiences, the Nehimba Seeps in northern Hwange is one of the most memorable. The seeps are one of the few year-round, naturally occurring water sources in the park, and quietly watching elephants patiently wait for water to seep from the earth to quench their thirst is an almost spiritual experience. Visitors have an exclusive experience at the seeps, as they are on Imvelo’s private concession. Don’t forget Imvelo Safari Lodges’ stay 3/Pay 2 special for 2017 when Nehimba is combined with Camelthorn and/or Zambezi Sands!
