Classic Africa Safaris specializes in operating guided safaris in Uganda and Rwanda. As a ground operator, Classic offers an unbiased approach to designing the itinerary that is best for your clients. Classic works with a carefully selected variety of camps and lodges throughout the region and employs some of the area’s top guides. The CAS guiding team shines in delivering expert knowledge on the flora, fauna and culture of their home county. Their senior guides each bring great depth of experience (Mzee Male has been a safari guide in Uganda for 26 years!) to their travelers’ safaris and exceed the expectations and requirements of guests time after time.
Here we meet three of the expert CAS guides – Asuman, Francis and Robert.
Asuman Male
Mzee Male is cool, calm and collected. In his youth, he was a driver for the Presidential Office from 1982-92. Now, one of Classic’s senior guides for the last 14 years, his knowledge of Uganda along with his warmth and ability to deal with all situations no matter how rough they get makes him a must-have on a safari. He is a keen professional and exudes confidence while on safari, not to mention he knows just about everyone in Uganda!
“We appreciated Mzee Asuman Male’s guiding which included excellent driving skills on the bumpy roads, a great network with the communities, staff and other drivers/guides, and lots of information and great knowledge.”

Francis Kayligonza
Francis’ favorite animal is the elephant as “they carefully associate with other animals, peacefully, unless it acts in self-defense.” Kidepo Valley National Park is one of his favorite wildlife locations in Uganda, known for its expansive, remote wilderness. He always enjoys interacting with people – Ugandans and visitors, alike, and has a great sense of humor. Francis is rarely seen without a smile on his face and he is eager to share his passion for Uganda with his guests.
“Francis was over the top!! He is the best driver/guide in the field…none could beat Francis. He was informative, attentive to detail and took great care of me. His vehicle was comfortable, extremely spacious and Francis always kept it clean…the Uganda trip was flawlessly organized!”

Robert Sunday
Robert was born and raised in western Uganda and earned a university diploma in wildlife conservation. For the last 14 years, he’s been guiding in Uganda and growing his expertise in birding and mammals. His favorite activity on safari is birding as it “creates more opportunities to spot other wildlife since a lot of patience is given to birds’ lives.” Robert’s favorite bird is the African fish eagle.
When Robert is not on safari, you’ll find him swimming, playing soccer and relaxing with a good book. It wouldn’t be a stretch to say that he’s gifted at language and speaks EIGHT: English, Kiswahili, Luganda, French, Rutooro, Runyankole, Rukiga and Lukonzo!
“Most importantly, our guide Robert was one of the best guides we’ve encountered. Knowledgeable about fauna, flora, culture and history. With initiative to improve our experience when he saw the opportunity. Friendly and warm, and a great ambassador for his country.”
