Stephano Saá is one of Tropic’s talented guides in the Galapagos Islands who finds joy in sharing the wonders of his home with visitors from around the world.
Stephano was born in the Galapagos. He grew up on Santa Cruz Island and has enjoyed spending time in nature throughout his life. Swimming at the beach that was close of town or riding a bike were normal daily activities, with birds and sea lions making the every day fun. Stephano’s father is a naturalist guide, while his mother works at the national park – it’s a family affair! In 2007, Stephano followed his passion in sharing with other people what it is like to live in the ‘Enchanted Islands’ and became a naturalist guide.
“I like to be close to nature and share the experience with other people – every day is a new oportunity to find adventure.”
What is your favourite place to visit in your country and why?
My favorite place to visit is Floreana because is the most isolated island in the archipelago. It has a very interesting human history and the species that you see there are unique. Also, I have fond memories of spending time swimming with the sea lions at the pier with no fear of them from when I was a kid.
What is your favourite part of your job?
I enjoy being close to the flora and fauna, so many of them being unique to the Islands. I also like to see the landscapes and how they are diferent depending the location in the archipelago. I like to share good moments with other people because every day is a new experience and also sharing knowledge with people about the Galapagos Islands also gives me the oportunity to learn from others. Interpreting nature and always learning from this amazing place and the people that visit us is what I enjoy the most.
