New levy on Tanzanian flights

Albatros East Africa has informed us that all aircraft passengers traveling to and within Tanzania will be required to pay a new security levy beginning November 1, 2018. The Tanzania Airports Authority has introduced the additional charge to fund improvements to airport security, including installing high-tech scanning devices and new perimeter fences.

The new levy will be imposed on travelers boarding both domestic and international flights in Tanzania. The fee will be US$2 on domestic journeys and US$5 on international journeys.

These fees are effective on tickets issued on/after October 1, 2018 and for travel on/after November 1, 2018

For trips to Tanzania already booked with Albatros, they will absorb this additional charge rather than impose it retroactively. However, please note that the additional levy will be reflected in the prices of all trips booked from October 4th. Contact Jennie Camm with any questions.
