On October 17, 2023, the Uganda wildlife Authority (UWA) reported an evening attack (approx 6:40pm) on a tourist vehicle inside Queen Elizabeth National Park near the Mweya Peninsula. Three people were killed in the tragic incident – one Ugandan and two foreign nationals. UWA and Ugandan security forces are working diligently to establish the precise sequence of events and identify those responsible.

UWA reported that Queen Elizabeth NP is still open and under close monitoring.

We are staying apprised of the situation and monitoring things as they develop. CAS clients in Uganda currently are being assigned security escorts depending on their location and itinerary. Should you have specific questions or concerns about your travelers / their itinerary, please don’t hesitate to contact CAS.
