Classic Africa Safaris received the following update from Mihingo Lodge, near Lake Mburo, Uganda.
Straight from Mihingo Lodge:
“We have been doing all sorts of things to make Mihingo now even better. We have added a lovely round sitting room onto the rocks which joins onto the dining room. This is as an additional space where people can sit and relax, have a drink, watch the animals at the water hole, or even have supper if they so wish. Upstairs is another room with breathtaking panoramic views of Lake Kacheera and the park. This is the perfect place to chill out with a book, have a sleep or play a game of Back gammon or chess.
Below the bar is the bush baby platform which is a spacious wooden deck beneath shady trees. We have erected a large canvas awning and there are 2 sofas where guests can lounge. For special occasions such as honey moons or wedding anniversaries we are happy to arrange a private breakfast here. It is also a wonderful place for sundowners and of course the best place to see our family of resident Bush babies very close. We have also put a cover over the bushbaby platform to create another space which is really nice during the morning and the evening.
The fire place has now moved and is up on the rocks close to the dining room. Sipping a G & T while the sun goes down and listening to hyenas calling in the valley below is a lovely way to end an evening.
Mihingo has introduced some delicious new salads and several other mouth -watering recipes. Please do let your guests know that most of our salads and herbs come from our own vegetable garden, while we buy many other vegetables from an organic farm on the outskirts of Kampala and the rest of our veggies from the market in Mbarara.
Iddy is also busy working on new activities. There is so much to do at Mihingo from different walking safaris inside and outside the Park as well as many different kind of horse rides. We now have 7 top class mountain bikes for guests and 2 additional ones for guides. Guests can go on a cultural walk, ride to a fishing village or visit the local primary school all on a super mountain bike. There are some fantasticbike rides around Mihingo to suit all ages.
Our massage room has also been improved. It is a heavenly peaceful setting in the forest with butterflies fluttering around and birds singing. The perfect way to de-stress after a busy safari or a long flight.
The night drives inside and outside the Park are also very popular. Our conservation project has increased the number of hyenas in our area from sometimes 4 to about 20 always staying in our area, which is a great success and they can be heard almost every night and are often seen by our guests. Leopards are seen regularly especially on night game drives.”
