Guatemala

Guatemala has a variety of biological and cultural attractions making it a magical place for close encounters with nature, the living Mayan Culture, fascinating archeological temples and colonial architecture. Belize

Belize’s abundance of terrestrial and marine species and its diversity of ecosystems give it a key place in the globally significant Mesoamerican Biological Corridor. Belize has a diverse society, with many cultures and languages and is the only country in the area that has English as its official language. Belize is bordered on the north by Mexico, to the south and west by Guatemala, and to the east by the Caribbean.

Honduras

Honduras seems to have it all – Carribean Sea, Pacific Ocean, tropical rainforest, and mountain ranges! Add to that the incredible Mayan culture, diversity of flora and fauna, activity options and it is a country waiting to be explored. James Rogers – Founder and Director

Jimmy received a bachelor’s degree in hotel management & tourism and a masters in finance in Guatemala. A member of the board of directors of AMCHAM (American Tourism Chamber) and CAMTUR (Guatemalan Tourism Chamber). Born and raised in Guatemala, Jimmy is passionate about his country, its people and culture. He has worked in the tourism business since he was 19, both for hotels and in-coming tour operators. With the help of Annie Godoy, he founded Maya Trails as a more personal and creative option to other the larger, mass-market tour operators. He enjoys playing golf and running marathons, exploring new areas in Guatemala, Honduras & Belize and spending time with his family.

Adriana Merida – Sales Manager

Adriana has a Bachelors degree in Hospitality Management. Her background focuses on hotels and restaurants operations. She’s passionate about cooking , serving others and she firmly believes in Guatemala as a competitive destination. She enjoys going out with friends and spending time with her family.

Maria Samayoa – Operations

Maria has a Bachelors degree in Business Administration with a minor degree in Tourism. What she loves most about her job is getting travelers to know Guatemala’s culture, natural destinations, and especially Mayan archaeological sites! Her favorite tour is Yaxhá sunset, in fact, she got engaged there! Besides tourism, her passion is to watch and play soccer!

Sofia Valenzuela – Sales consultant

Born and raised in Guatemala, Sofia loves to spend time at the Boom Gym, a mix of kettle-bell and cardio workouts. She is passionate about her country and loves working on tourism and in promoting it to travelers from all walks of life. She enjoy spending time with family and friends.

Ana Isabel – Sales consultant

Ana is one of our newest travel experts. She has a bachelor’s degree in Sustainable Tourism Management. She enjoys trekking in nature and learning about the many indigenous cultures of Guatemala. She is passionate about environmental education and heritage conservation. Her background is on sustainable management focusing on helping others and showing Guatemala’s value.

Monica Rogers – Concierge Service and Marketing

Born and raised in Guatemala to American parents. She has 3 daughters and loves spending time with her family. Her passion for the travel industry is unmatched. Monica worked at United Airlines, Hertz Car Rental and for a travel agency at the Guatemalan U.S. embassy. She loves her country of Guatemala, and to host guests to see all the amazing features Guatemala has to offer. She has a special touch with people, that is why she is in charge of the concierge service at Maya Trails, from the ‘meet and greet,’ all the way to last day of the guests’ time in our region.

Yoana Perez – Accounting

Yoana was born in Guatemala City, and is the youngest of 5 sisters. She is in charge of all accounting transactions. She is somewhat shy, but adventurous at heart. In her spare time she loves to go out and explore what her country has to offer, and always is exploring with friends and family. Her passion is to try to step out of the hustle and bustle of the big city, head out to the nature, visit our colonial cities, new experiences, and get out of the day to day activities.
